Belen is a wealthy Dominican on vacation in Las Vegas. Belen is quick-witted and passionate about living life to the fullest. At the casino, Belen dresses in evening wear and expensive accessories (jewelry / watch).
It’s 1968 and you are Belen García - a wealthy Dominican on vacation in Las Vegas. At least that’s what you want people to think…
You are actually Avíla Lopez - a Cuban freedom fighter. You’re tired of the Cuban people having to pay the price for America’s greed. You want a better life for your countrymen, but the U.S. embargo is causing everyone to suffer. The Soviets are only slightly better — they may be Cuba’s allies, but you don’t think they truly respect Cuba’s freedom and independence.
You overheard Cove Brighton talking to someone in Russian about a remote missile launcher that was hidden in the casino. This was strange because Cove Brighton claims to be an American poker player… You don’t know very much Russian, but from what you heard, the missiles were pointed at the desert and no one would get hurt if they went off, but setting the missiles off would be bad for the U.S. and the Soviets. The U.S. military would look like fools for allowing their own missiles to be hijacked and the Soviets would be blamed for the attack.
You decided to find the missiles and set them off. Last night, you wandered around the casino searching for the missile launcher. An annoying American tourist asked if you wanted help finding something at one point, but you brushed them aside. Once you found the missile launcher, all you had to do was press a button to trigger them. You decided to also fax a note to the FBI as a warning. Your note read: “I found remote launchpad for the Exile Missile in the casino and launching it. Don’t say I am not warning you.”
Now that the missiles have been launched, you’re a bit nervous. Maybe setting off missiles was a bit extreme, but at least no one will get hurt by them.
As you’re standing in the casino lost in thought, someone walks in and starts trying to get everyone’s attention to make an announcement . . .
You’re shocked to hear that an FBI director was murdered at the casino. Givaldi is dead. You’re even more worried about the fact that the missiles are pointed at Los Angeles. You released the missiles as a symbolic gesture… you didn’t want to commit mass murder. You don’t have the missile launcher anymore and are not sure where you left it, but you want to help find the missiles before it is too late. You want to help solve the murder and stop the missiles from being launched, but you’ll have to continue playing the part of a wealthy Dominican who is just here for vacation.
Talk to Cove Brighton. Ask if he knows anything about the missiles, but don’t reveal what you overheard so he doesn’t get suspicious.
Chat with the other guests and see what you can find out. Use this time to gather information or spread rumors.
Find out who killed Givaldi. You'll achieve this if you write down the correct name of the murderer at the end of the game.
Make sure no one finds out that you launched the missiles. You'll achieve this if no one writes down your name as the person who launched the missiles at the end of the game.
Stop the missiles from launching. You'll achieve this if the missiles are disabled before the timer goes off in the end of Act IV
Get $5,000 by the end of the night. You'll achieve this if ou have at least $5,000 by the end of the night.
If you’re playing with a competitive group and you want there to be a clear winner at the end of the night, you can tally up the points that players earn when they achieve their goals. Each goal is worth 1 point. Players can also win bonus points in the following ways:
Get a murder “conviction”.
In addition to solving the murder, you’ll want to make sure that the murderer is brought to justice. Convince others that they should vote for the same person as you.
If you selected the murderer correctly AND a simple majority of players also voted for that person, you get one bonus point.
The murderer will get a bonus point if a simple majority of people do NOT select the correct person as the murderer.
Get the most money.
The player who has the most money at the end of the night will get 1 bonus point.
You can make money by playing casino games (talk to Hollis Johnson about this), placing bets with other players, blackmailing someone, or getting someone to pay you for information. Be creative!
